Plan Periodicity​

The periodicity of a plan is a key setting that defines the reference period of that plan everytime it will be run, either automatically or manually.
It can be weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly or annual.

But it’s not just a label: periodicity works together with other time settings:

  • Start Date and End Date: define the time range of the plan. Only transactions with timestamps within this range will be considered.

How it Works​

  1. Define the plan’s periodicity (e.g., monthly).
  2. Set the Start Date and End Date of the period; End Date is optional.
  3. If you have set up the automatic execution for this plan, it will auomatically run every month on the last day
  4. If you choose to run the plan manually, instead, the default period proposed will cover just the current month (from the 1st day of the month till today); otherwise you can choose among different monthly period (e.g. last month, the month before the last one, etc...)

Example: Monthly Payroll (automatic execution)​

  • Goal: Calculate a salesperson’s monthly commissions.
  • Setup: Create a plan with Periodicity: Monthly and activate the button of the "automatic execution"
  • What happens? On the last day of February, the plan creates the period "February 2026". The execution calculates commissions related to the month of February.

Example: Monthly Payroll (manual execution)​

  • Goal: Calculate a salesperson’s monthly commissions.
  • Setup: Create a plan with Periodicity: Monthly
  • What happens? Let's assume that on the 15th of the month, the SPM User wants to know how much should be paid so far to the contributors for the current month; the SPM User launches a manual run for the plan. The execution calculates commissions related to the period 1st - 15th of the current month.

The Cases: the official/unofficial summary of the period​

Every time a plan has been executed - either automatically or manually - the results of that run will be displayed in the Cases. A "Case" is a special object that acts as a "summary page" for each period (e.g., "February 2026").
After each execution, the summary cards in the SPM - Cases section show the results (e.g., total commissions).
